Thunderpants organic cotton and spandex fabric is super stretchy, comfy and easy-fit. There’s no nasty, scratchy elastic that digs in. They are the ultimate comfy, easy-fit undie. The flat fronted original, hipster and sky rise styles all have the same fit through the leg and butt varying in height. The hipster is low waisted, the original sits around the navel and the sky rise is high waisted. The flat fronted boxer is a hipster fit with a short boy leg. See the size guide below to help you choose the right size. If you happen to fall between the measurements, don’t panic! We recommend going up rather than down a size.....they will last longer and be more comfortable if not stretched too far. The swimwear also follows this standard New Zealand sizing.
This chart includes all styles in the adult range that are not a pouch front but does not include the Cotton Drill A line skirts whose size chart is included in the product description.

Flat Fronted Hipster vs Original/Sky Rise?
These styles are exactly the same in every way except the hipster is shorter in the waist than the original or sky rise. Those of us that have a bit of a tummy roll may wish to choose the original or sky high style as they cover the tummy.
Pouch fronted Boxer vs Brief?
The pouch front boxer is the closer fit option. If you like everything snug with a fitted boxer leg then opt for the boxer. For those that prefer a looser fit, stick with the brief.

What about the kids?
This guide is based on many years of Thunderpants sales. As all children are different we suggest you go with your own intuition a little here. Thunderpants are very accommodating and tend to grow with your child so some children will wear their small undies well into the medium size range. Remember when your child outgrows the children's range they can move into the smaller adults sizes.

Basic Black - a stoic option in the line up. Team up the Thunderpants Longline Crop with any style of Thunderpants for an easy to wear set.
Features a double layer at the front, flatter seam at the bottom and more room for bigger busts than our Original Crop Top. This makes it a better option if your boobs are on the bigger side. Can add a bit of compression to smaller busts due to the double layer.

This is the ultimate in all day long comfort!
Sizes SML - 3XL
Double layer of fabric in the front and a higher neckline for extra coverage
Same signature Organic Cotton / Spandex blend as our underwear
Thinner binding for a longer, sleeker look
There is a thin piece of elastic rolled into the bottom hem to keep the bra in place, eliminating bulky seams
Designed with larger boobs in mind, but works well for all body types
Might add a bit of compression on smaller/flatter chests because of the double layer front
For a less coverage/compression, try our original crop top.

Bre is wearing a size XL
The Thunderpants fabric is 90% cotton and 10% spandex to give it that super comfy, soft stretchy feel. Unlike the underpants, the longline crop needs the help of a bit of elastic to avoid any underwear malfunctions when dancing or suchlike. All the garments are made locally and lovingly in New Zealand.
To preserve the vibrant colours and life of the fabric we suggest you do not soak or bleach your Thunderpants items. Use a gentle detergent in a cold machine wash and dry your Thunderpants Crop Top on the line, not in the dryer.
Your Thunderpants items are not only super comfy but they are designed to withstand some pretty staunch stuff, so get into them and get out there!
I wanted something to wear in beginner pole dancing class. I relate to this activity more for strength and acrobatic fun than going in a sultry, pouty direction shall we say. Most pole attire is therefore NOT my cup of tea.... so I was very pleased to find this ensemble which is snazzier than just plain black and doesn't take me in a direction I don't want to go!
unfortunately this crop ran small. i got the size i always get / have got for the other bra type and bought two of these and they were way tighter, to the point where it was too uncomfortable for me to wear. i even tried putting it in boiling water and stretching it multiple times and even then it was still quite tight. unfortunate as i've loved everything else i've got from this brand !!

Kia ora Lucky, I am so sorry these didn't work for you. We would have been happy to refund or exchange them for you when you first purchased them. These do fit completely differently to the other crop top style, they have quite a bit of soft compression, much more obvious in the smaller sizes. Our garments will not stretch in boiling water, it could make them smaller and lessen the life of the spandex. It is best to wash them in cool water. Ngā mihi The Team @ TPHQ
10/10 for quality and comfort. I have really bad sensory issues and I was worried about the seams, but the fabric is so soft that I dont even notice them. A good ammount of compression to provide support, without digging in. Really annoyed with everything being bamboo lately, its not a sensory friendly option for me. Glad these are organic cotton and still a sustainable product. Slowly replacing all the bras I hate with these.
Store owner replied:
Kia ora, Thanks so much for taking the time to review, especially as other folk with sensory issues would love to know this style works so well for you. I just want to clarify though that the fabric in this garment is not organically grown, it is regeratively grown Australian cotton. During COVID it was impossible to check the farms were following all Fairtrade & Organic certification guidelines so we made the change to regeneratively grown cotton. Because it is grown in Australia we don't need Fairtrade Certification and the travel miles were significantly dropped. It is an overall sustainably better option for us. We do use organic Fairtrade Organic 100% cotton drill in our Homewares, A Line Skirts etc. Nga mihi Sopjhie @ TPHQ
Fantastic experience from ordering to enjoying
I ordered the tops for my mother as she had been a long time wearer of the bottoms!
She’s just as thrilled with the tops as she is the pants.
Excellent product you have there!
Just what I was after! I'm a transman with chronic back/neck/shoulder pain and can't wear standard binders anymore. The double-layer of cotton spandex gives just enough compression for me to be comfy and go about my day but doesn't cause any strain on my shoulders. (Not a flat compression, but "held" in place enough and way better silhouette than a sports bra could!)
Would love to see a double-layer singlet version of this one day!!

Kia ora Jude,
We are so pleased this works so well for you! Thanks so much for taking the time to review, it is really helpful for other folk with similar needs. As for your request of a double layer singlet version, please check your emails shortly.

I took a chance and bought your largest size hoping it would fit. Unfortunately it was a little tight around my ribcage so I only use it in emergencies. I hope Thunderpants will consider making this in a larger size in line with their underpants because it is just as well made. I would love some matching sets!
Store owner replied:
Kia ora Krista,
Thanks for the very helpful review. We have the pattern graded up to a 3XL and are actually going to make some now. If you haven't worn / washed your one you can return it to us for a refund. This crop does have a bit more compression because of the double layer.

I love this top . It's super comfortable and supportive, but I do find it a bit warm on hot days - it's great on cooler days.
I had to go up a size from my undies, and it's perfect.
Thanks from a happy customer :)
Just what I wanted: - a natural fibre bra that 'breaths', is soft and comfy while giving reassuring support.
I'd tried crop top styles before but found the straps too short for my tall shape. Somehow, Thunderpants have solved that with their longline style. Thanks!
Saw this online and loved the in-house print but there was no stock in my size so I asked via email and Thunderpants made another run of the size for me to purchase. Excellent quality and workmanship as always, and sizing true to dimensions on the site. Have some pieces going on 14 years now so definitely worth the investment!
I really like this crop top and hope they make it in more colours in future. The length and the double layer of fabric are great. It is nice and compressive (small bust) and mostly comfortable. The comfort would be enhanced by using wooly nylon rather than universal overlocking thread on the seams so that they do not feel so harsh against the skin. As someone with sensory sensitivities, I would certainly appreciate a wooly nylon seam over the universal thread.
Store owner replied:
Kia ora Gabrielle, thanks for the feedback and glad you love the new longline crop, we do too! In regards to the overlocking thread, it is a softer multifilament thread and not the standard overlocking thread that we use. The issue could be caused by the bulky nature of the multiple fabric layers at that point where the binding and the seam meet. We don't have spreaders on our machines, we are only a very small operation so have limited space and resources so sometimes our seams can get bulky. I have had some customers wear garments inside out on particularly sensitive days and say that stops it - I am aware this might not be an ideal solution in summer under light clothing but in winter it works well. ngā mihi Sophie @ TPHQ
Fabulous new style, comfortable and supportive at the same time! This crop worked perfectly for someone with a large bust and small back. The original crop was always too small in the front and too big in the back for me. I loved the bra crop as the hooks at the back meant I could size it to fit my proportions, however the longline crop is shaping up to be a great alternative!
Absolutely LOVE this Longline crop! Originally ordered the black and have just ordered the Scratchy too. Please please bring out more options! I need to stock up!
As a 16F/G the girls NEED some kind of control and I've really struggled to find a crop that has enough boobage space so I'm not popping out the top and even if I have they've never offered any kind of support. But this crop actually does! The double layer offers a bit of compression which is perfect! The Large was a great fit for me.
I was given a sample to try and I LOVE it. I have always wanted to wear a crop but my boobs are too big and they usually don't work well. The Original Crop Top is too small in the cup but this one has much more cup room and the double layered front means there is a bit more compression to tame the girls! To be honest it isnt a longline crop on me because the tatas use all the extra space.
